Mortal Kombat Reboot Officially Starts Filming

It's time for Mortal Kombat fans to celebrate since the film reboot has officially started filming.

Last Saturday, September 14th, Lewis Tan, whose Mortal Kombat character is yet to be known, posted a photo on Twitter, which shows Tan together with Mehcad Brooks (playing as Jax) and Joe Taslim (as Sub-Zero). He captioned the photo with a short and intriguing message, "Heads will roll…." and added the hashtag #MortalKombat.

Greg Russo confirmed this via Twitter. Russo also posted a photo that seems to be a slate board showing the Mortal Kombat logo at the bottom. Together with the photo is a caption saying "May the Elder Gods watch over us!". He then accompanied his tweet with the hashtag, #ITHASBEGUN so as to reference a line from Shang Tsung from the 1995 film.

Russo is said to be making his debut as a screenwriter with this particular film and fans have been anticipating this for he is also said to be the writer for another reboot, this time, for a Resident Evil movie.

Adding to the excitement is producer Todd Garner who also posted a photo on Twitter with the caption, "See you all on the other side….also". Showing several shots of what seems to be the same scene from different angles.

Fans are surely ecstatic to hear about this as the Mortal Kombat reboot is actually in the works.

The Mortal Kombat reboot's said cast includes Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, and Lewis Tan in an unknown role.

Personally, I am curious to see what Russo puts on the table as he has chosen this film to make his debut as a screenwriter.

The Mortal Kombat reboot is said to be released on March 5, 2021.
