Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge Gets the Bloody Red Band Trailer it Deserves

WB had released the first preview for the animated Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge last January, but it was admittedly too vanilla for a franchise like Mortal Kombat. Just in, we have the red band trailer for the movie released, and it features all the bloody fun we know and love from the games.

Based on the worldwide hit game created by Ed Boon & John Tobias, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge spotlights the once-in-a-generation tournament between the champions of Outworld and Earthrealm - a competition that will ultimately determine the fate of Earth and all its citizens. Lord Raiden, protector of Earthrealm, must gather the greatest fighters of his realm to defend it from the evil Shang Tsung in the battle to end all battles - Mortal Kombat!

Besides the violence, you'll notice that there's also some swearing in the game. It's fantastic that they got Joel McHale (Community) to do the voice of Johnny Cage because it looks like Johnny is going to be the sole comic relief for the movie.

Compared to the DCEU titles, it looks like Scorpion's Revenge will also have its own unique style. We know that Scorpion is going to be at the center of the story, but I'm curious about how the other Earth Realm defenders will be handled in the movie. With the Mortal Kombat live-action movie coming out next year, you'd think that WB could be worried about trying to re-tell a whole different story, but maybe I'm getting worried over nothing.

Catch Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge when it hits digital and Blu-Ray this spring.
