One of the biggest issues with Justice League was how terrible Superman looked since Henry Cavill wasn't allowed to shave his moustache for Mission Impossible: Fallout. Director Chris McQuarrie has been badgered by fans online on why Cavill wasn't allowed to shave, to which he answered:
Though a fake moustache would have certainly blown off at the time, it's worth noting that WB did offer to CGI a moustache onto Cavill for the movie at WB's expense. It was even said that they provided a test reel where they applied a moustache to Cavill's clean-shaven scenes.
When the news broke out that Paramount declined the offer, the fans only read it as one thing: Paramount was just being petty. For simply not allowing Cavill to shave, they managed to ruin one of the most anticipated movies of 2017. Now fans look back at "moustache-gate" and know who exactly was to blame on why Superman had a creepy upper lip.
For now, Cavill's moustache has been the butt of several jokes, with the Deadpool marketing making fun of it, and even Cavill himself taking a jab. If anything, this next Mission Impossible movie better be worth it for ruining Superman in Justice League.
Mission Impossible: Fallout comes out July 27.
