Microsoft Enables Xbox One Gamers To Play With Playstation 4 and PC Owners

This morning, Microsoft has announced on its Xbox blog that it's opening its Xbox Live online platform — the service gamers use to play games online through an Xbox One or Xbox 360 — to other platforms.

First, in addition to natively supporting cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows 10 games that use Xbox Live, we're enabling developers to support cross-network play as well. This means players on Xbox One and Windows 10 using Xbox Live will be able to play with players on different online multiplayer networks – including other console and PC networks.

That's a big move!

That means gamers could play games like Call of Duty or Destiny can play online, together, across Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.

Microsoft says that it's dumb how friends who own different consoles can't play with each other, saying, "We agree. That is dumb. Enough.".
