The McCree short for Overwatch had teased us with Echo way back in 2018 and despite that, the next two heroes we got were Baptiste and Sigma. What's great is, it looks like Blizzard is finally ready to give us Echo, and we have a new origin trailer for her.
Here's the official description:
Introducing Echo. An evolutionary robot programmed with a rapidly adapting artificial intelligence, Echo represents the cutting edge of technology.
She has a very interesting origin in the sense that she's an ‘echo' of the woman who helped create the omnics, Dr. Mina Liao; it would be great to see just how her dynamic works in the world of Overwatch, what with the clash between humans and omnics-alike.
We don't have any idea of what her play-style is yet, but hopefully, we get a video in the next few weeks. Since Brigitte, the last four heroes actually come from morally gray areas. I think it's going to be cool to have a hero like Echo who will represent a kind of ‘innocent' character in the game.
We don't know when Echo comes out officially, but heroes usually become playable a month after their announcement. Our best bet is that Echo comes out in April, but with the COVID-19 Outbreak delaying everything, we could be looking at a delayed-release.
For now, catch Overwatch on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
