Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be coming to an end, but the future of the cinematic universe is still as bright as ever with Marvel planning a diversity of films, heroes, and stories for the fanbase.
The studio even has plans to continue diversifying its directorial roster, with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige promising that Marvel intends to recruit more female directors as it goes along.
Speaking with Game Spot during the promotional campaign for Ant-Man and the Wasp, Feige opened up more about his plans for the future of the MCU.
"We've got announcements that we'll be making at some point revealing that," Feige told the publication.
Though Feige can't promise a concrete number of female directors in the franchise, he did tell journalists present during a presentation at the Produced By Conference that Marvel's going to have a lot more female directors in the future.
"I cannot promise that all 20 Marvel movies will have female directors but a heck of a lot of them will," Feige explained.
Marvel's first female director is Anna Boden, the filmmaker in charge of the studio's first ever female-led superhero movie, Captain Marvel. Now, with more female directors on the way, we can't help but wonder whether the studio's also pushing through with the all-female superhero movie that Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson's been rallying for. Let's wait and see.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is set to premiere on July 6.
