Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite Has No X-Men Because Producers Think Fans 'Don't Remember’ Them

With Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, Marvel Studios is trying to keep the focus on their movie characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy or Captain Marvel. Wolverine and Deadpool were in the last game, so whay haven't seen any of them in the promo material?

According to Gamespot, Capcom producers think that the general audiences have already forgotten about the characters. Capcom's Michael Evans said:

"We talked with Marvel very closely about their future roadmap, about what's gonna be happening. Your modern Marvel fan, maybe they don't even remember some of the X-Men characters, but they know some of the Guardians characters or Black Panther. You know what I mean? Captain Marvel may seem like a strange pick, but she's fantastic. She fits the gameplay. She fits the story, and they're gonna be really pushing her as a strong female lead all the way up into the movie. We're trying to take everything into account and choose the best characters."

Now I understand all about character ownership disputes, but you don't have to tell me that fans ‘don't remember' them. I mean, Wolverine alone had the release of Logan earlier this year, and everyone's waiting on Deadpool 2, so it's safe to say everyone knows who these characters are.

As an MvC fan, I'm disappointed that they would be pulling out Wolverine from the roster. He's been playable ever since the first Marvel vs. Capcom game, and the X-Men basically started the Capcom/Marvel crossover in the first place thanks to X-Men vs. Street Fighter.

Hopefully the characters are still in the game, and they've just been removed from the promo material. You can't just make us ‘forget' the X-Men.

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is set for a release on Sept. 19.
