Marvel TV Wants To Try Out More Comedy Like The MCU

Marvel TV might have a pretty stable line of superhero drama series over at ABC and Netflix but it seems like the studio's looking to expand their reach by developing its own comedy series.

Marvel Television Senior Vice President of Original Programming Karim Zreki spoke at the Edinburg TV Festival earlier today (via The Hollywood Reporter), talking about the different plans the television division had for its future programs. In its discussion, Zreik revealed that the company was actively searching for the means into comedy like how Marvel Studios is washing the Marvel Cinematic Universe in levity.

"Comedy is something we really want to go into," the vice president said after mentioning the success of the Guardians of the Galaxy on the big screen. "It took us time to dip our foot in the comedy pool."

However, Marvel fans shouldn't expect an office comedy. According to Zriek, the studio isn't set out to develop series like The Office and Parks and Recreation, saying that Marvel TV would "never do an office comedy."

It looks like Marvel TV's trying its best to follow the direction of the MCU, and while we're not certain whether levity would work for the Marvel TV universe, we know that everyone's dying for a good laugh. Let's see whether the studio will be able to pull it off.
