Marvel TV Confirms Lucy Liu As Director Of Luke Cage Season 2 Premiere Episode

Last month, Lucy Liu was spotted in the Harlem set of the Luke Cage season 2 production, and photos from local business establishments like Harlem Coffee Co. showed the actress hanging out with the series' star, Mike Colter.

These pictures sparked rumors that Liu would either be making a Luke Cage cameo appearance or that the American celebrity would be directing one of the episodes of the second season of the Marvel Netflix superhero series. Now, Marvel TV and Netflix have both confirmed that latter – Liu is actually directing the premiere episode of Luke Cage season 2.

Speaking in an interview with Buzzfeed News, Liu decided to talk about her experience working with the Luke Cage team.

What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling character.

Head of Marvel Television and Luke Cage executive producer Jeph Loeb praised Liu's methods and her approach to the Power Man's series, saying that:

"When you're dealing with a bulletproof man, it helps if you have a bulletproof director. Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors. She is rocking Luke Cage 2."

The good word Loeb's putting out for Liu comes as no surprise – the actress and director had helmed a few series episodes before, directing four episodes of Elementary while she played the part of Sherlock Holme's (Johnn Lee Miller) partner, Dr. Watson.

Luke Cage season 2 premieres on Netflix sometime in 2018.
