Marvel Studios Pays Tribute To The MCU’s Female Characters On International Women’s Day

It's International Women's Day today, and Marvel's decided to celebrate with a short montage paying tribute to the women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Taking to Twitter, Marvel Russia has just shared a new video celebrating the many women of the MCU. Featuring familiar faces like Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) the montage celebrates women's power and strength.

Check it out down here:

Marvel Studios might have had issues with diversity during the first phase of the MCU, however, the studio has come to introduce quite a number of strong and diverse women after eventually realizing the value of gender and racial representation.

After meeting criticism over its lack of female superheroes aside from Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow who was mostly cast aside while her male Avengers teammates took the spotlight, Marvel began filling in the gender gap.

Not only did the studio bring in characters like Guardians of the Galaxy's Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Nebula (Karen Gillan), and Mantis, it also introduced Thor: Ragnarok's Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Hela (Cate Blanchett).

Marvel also just recently brought in an army of women in Black Panther including the Wakandan spy Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o) and Dora Milaje general Okoye (Danai Gurira).

Now, as Phase 3 of the MCU comes to an end, we can't wait to see what other boundaries Marvel might push as it heads on to Phase 4 of the franchise.

Black Panther is currently screening in cinemas.
