Marvel Reportedly Writing Spider-Man Out Of The MCU In The Next Two Years

Marvel fans might be pretty relieved now that Disney and Sony have come to an agreement to keep Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for another two years, but now there are rumors going around saying that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is actually planning to write off Tom Holland's Peter Parker off the franchise.

According to a report by ComicBook.com, there's insider information saying that the new deal between Disney and Sony is actually supposed to help write Spider-Man off the MCU, slowly giving Sony full control of the character. The report claims that the next two films involving the wallcrawler are going to one, a standalone movie, and two, what seems to be a team-up.

This rumor doesn't really make sense seeing how other industry sites believe that more Spider-Man projects would come out of the deal between Disney and Sony, however, we can see Marvel trying to give Spider-Man a proper send-off before pushing him back to Sony.

Spider-Man: Far From Home's end credit sequence saw J.Jonah Jameson (JK Simmons) revealing Spider-Man's true identity. Spider-Man 3 would address that event, and then the team-up film would help give Spider-Man closure, allowing him to move on to Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters.

If this rumor is proven to be true, then we'll have at least two good years with Spidey before he gets sent back to Sony. But then again, Disney and Sony might change their minds when 2021 comes. The two could probably try and extend their deal.

Let's wait and see.

Spider-Man 3 comes swinging into cinemas on July 16, 2021.
