Marvel Reportedly Turning Jessica Jones into Captain Marvel’s Girlfriend

Marvel fans might have been hoping to see Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) get together with Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), but it looks like Marvel Studios has a different woman in mind for Captain Marvel.

According to a report by We Got This Covered, sources have told the publication that Marvel is very interested in turning Carol Danvers into a gay superhero and giving her a girlfriend in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. Though fans were hoping to see that girlfriend as Valkyrie, the site claims that Captain Marvel's partner is going to be a new character in the MCU.

Sources have told the entertainment news outlet that Marvel is planning to bring in Jessica Jones in Captain Marvel 2 as Carol Danvers' new partner. The two are going to start out as friends, however, the film is going to strongly hint that there could be something more between the two heroes as well.

Though this might disappoint fans who've been hoping to see something between Thor: Ragnarok's Valkyrie and Captain Marvel, we're excited by the idea of seeing Jessica Jones in the MCU. Kyrsten Ritter's version of the drunken private investigator was favorite among fans, and critics loved the Marvel Television series, Jessica Jones. While it seems unlikely that Marvel would bring Ritter in to play the MCU's version of Jessica Jones, we're excited by the thought of seeing the character find her way into the franchise. We're also excited to see her being paired up with Captain Marvel, because honestly, who doesn't like Jessica Jones?

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on May 1, 2020.
