Marvel Reportedly Considering Spider-Man Director For Nova Movie


Spider-Man may no longer be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to the broken negotiations between Sony and Disney, but it doesn't mean that the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home director Jon Watts' Marvel career.

While there's still a lot of uncertainty over Spider-Man's status, a new rumor has started going around saying that Marvel Studios has begun eyeing Watts for another major Marvel franchise, saying that the studio wants to develop a Nova movie together with the Spider-Man director.

TVO from the Lords of the Long Box channel just recently went on Twitter to share the rumor, writing that Marvel wants Watts to helm a Richard Rider solo movie.

Of course, readers ought to take this report with a grain of salt. Rumors like this can't be trusted until there's official confirmation from Marvel.

However, it's interesting to hear that Marvel wants Watts to work on a Richard Rider Nova movie. Fans were pretty excited when Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo claimed that they'd actually put Richard Rider in the big battle between the Avengers and Thanos – only to be disappointed when the filmmakers revealed that they had simply been trolling around.

For the uninitiated, Richard Rider is a popular Marvel hero who gains superhuman abilities after he joins the Nova Corps. The character was supposed to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy along with the Nova Corps, however, director James Gunn decided to scrap the hero worrying that Nova would distract fans from the Guardians.

Let's wait and see whether Marvel brings Nova to the big screen.
