With a line of shining reviews and growing earnings at the global box office, Wonder Woman has become the turning point of the burgeoning DC Extended Universe. Patty Jenkin's first feature film for Diana Prince has done so well, it's also reaped praise from the different stars, directors and members of Marvel Studios, including President Kevin Feige.

Now, as Wonder Woman continues to succeed at the box office, Feige returns with even more praise for the superheroine's origin movie. Speaking in an interview with Mashable, Feige said that he was happy and relieved that Wonder Woman became suche a great hit, explaining that the film's success helps pave the way for other female-led comicbook movies like Captain Marvel.

"What it does do is go, ‘Oh, thank God. Because what the question would have been on this junket before that is, ‘Do you think people want to see a female superhero movie? … Are you nervous about Captain Marvel being a big, the first female hero?' And I would always say no, because there hasn't been a good one in a long time. There were, you know, 15 years ago, a bunch of bad ones. Did they fail because they were female-led movies? No. They failed because they were not good movies."

"I don't have to say that anymore thanks to Wonder Woman, because it just blows that fallacy out of the water."

Though most rabid DC and Marvel fans would like to imagine both comicbook movie studios in fierce competition with one another, the two also help build and shape the comicbook genre together. Wonder Woman has broken the stigma against female-led comicbook superhero movies, and it's pleasant to see how Marvel recognizes the value of the film.

Wonder Woman is currently screening in cinemas. Captain Marvel hits cinemas on March 8, 2019.
