Marvel fans were surprised when Marvel Comics announced the return of Arno Stark during this year's New York Comic-Con. Arno stark, better known as Iron Man 2020, first appeared in the 1984 comic Machine Man 2020 #2 as a character from the future.

Originally created by Tom DeFalco and Herb Trimpe with the Earth 616-iteration being created by Kieron Gillen and Dale Eaglesham, Iron Man 2020 is Tony Stark's first cousin once removed. Unlike Tony who uses the armor to save people, Arno prefers using the armor to act like a hired mercenary, committing acts of corporate espionage to cripple his industry rivals so that he gets industrial gain.

Now, it looks like Arno is returning for his own solo comic book series this January. According to, Marvel is planning to launch a full Iron Man 2020 comic book event from writers Dan Slott, Christos Gage, and illustrator Pete Woods. The event is supposed to cover multiple different books within a span of six months.

Marvel just recently revealed a few of the interior pages of Iron Man 2020, giving fans a reading checklist explaining all of the necessary tie-ins to the event.

This new comic book series is supposed to reveal Arno's new takeover as Iron Man and how the character "tackles the responsibilities that come with being the armored Avenger will have monumental effect in the Marvel Universe."
