Marvel Exec Promises Studio Will 'Never Try to Replace' Stan Lee in the MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe might feel different without any cameos from Stan Lee, but Marvel promises that it will never try to replace Stan the Man after the comic book legend passed away in November last year.

Speaking in an interview with Miami Latin News, Marvel Studios Executive Vice President of Production Victoria Alonso talks about future cameos in the MCU. While Marvel Studios might bring in cameos from "other people" as Marvel enters Phase 4 of the franchise, Alonso says that they'll never be able to replace the Marvel icon. The studio won't even try replacing Lee.

"Stan Lee is not replaceable. So we will never try," Alonso told the entertainment news outlet when asked who's going to be next in line for repeat cameos now that Lee has passed, "That is the legend, the man, we will never try to replace him. Other people will come around, and then you have someone as phenomenally creative as [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige, but there's only one Stan Lee."

Of course, Marvel will never be able to replace Lee. Stan the Man has done so much for the franchise. Not only did he create comic book characters in epic stories that everyone's come to love, but he's also become an icon for the pop culture industry. Lee has become a symbol for the comic book movie industry. Not only has the Marvel legend appeared in the films in the MCU, but he's also appeared in DC movies like Teen Titans Go! to the Movies.

Marvel continues on with Phase 4 of the franchise when Black Widow premieres on May 1, 2020.
