Marvel Contest of Champions Introduces Quake, Her Power & Perfect Matchups

A new character is coming to Marvel Contest of Champions, and she's bringing some earth-shaking vibes. Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Daisy Johnson, a.k.a. Quake will introduce some new powers for players to explore.

Marvel talked to Kabam Art Director Gabriel Frizzera and Champion Designer Piero Herrera to discuss more about what Quake will be like.

Unlike what her name suggests, however, Quake will be a little more below-the-radar as far as character looks go. Her costume is predominantly black, with only hints of yellow accents, and she will be pretty much no-nonsense. But she will shine once she showcases her powers and lives up to her hero name.

"Her Aftershock is a new ability that is basically delayed damage. Quake can trigger Earthquakes by either charging Heavy Attacks or by landing a Special Attack. Aftershock points are inflicted based on the intensity of the Earthquake. The Aftershock will happen 10 seconds after the first Earthquake and the opponent will take damage based on how many Aftershock points you were able to inflict this 10-second time frame."

She also has another ability, Concussion, which ensures that opponents will trigger abilities less often. While Quake may be one of the more nondescript-looking characters in Marvel Contest of Champions, one striking characteristic is that she has a lot of good matchups with other fighters.

Herrera revealed his preference, which is to pit her against Ultron or Magik. This gives her some form of leverage thanks to her Concussion effect, which basically lowers chances of triggering abilities. As an example, using her Heavy Attack against Ultron will force him to have very low chances of activating his Regeneration.

Her effect on Magik will even be more pronounced, as she as close to zero chances of triggering her Limbo. This is where Quake shows her potential.

Quake is already available in Marvel Contest of Champions, but players can check out the in-game messaging and arena announcements to get her.
