The first Kick-Ass film was a smash hit, and it made everyone remember how cool Nicholas Cage could be at the same time cementing Chloe Grace Moretz as a Lolita badass. The sequel didn't fare so well when it was released back in 2013, but writer Mark Millar is teasing a big Kick-Ass-related reveal for next week. Are we getting a third movie??
He posted this on Twitter:
Granted the comic ended with Kick-Ass 3 back in 2014, it would make sense for the studio to release a third movie. Let's not forget that we have Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman, X-Men: First Class) to thank for successfully launching the franchise back in 2010. I'd hope he comes back to direct the third one.
I can't remember too much about the Kick-Ass 2 movie, but I do remember how disappointed I was on how much it deviated from the comic. Aside from the fact that Aaron Taylor Johnson was more beefed up than he should be, the story was entirely watered down from its R-rated story.
Granted, some moviegoers may not have wanted to see scenes like Kick-Ass' girlfriend getting gang-raped, the Motherfucker gunning down a bunch of kids, and Jim Carrey's Col. Stars and Stripes getting his head cut off and replaced with his dog's.
Should we get a third film, I hope it does better than the sequel and provides us with a proper end to this cool take on superheroes.
