Disney might have successfully reawakened the Star Wars franchise after releasing The Force Awakens, however, Star Wars legend Mark Hamill wishes the studio followed the direction that original creator George Lucas had originally hoped for the franchise.
Sitting down to speak with Metro, the actor said that Lucas had a very different outline for Episodes VII, VIII, and IX of the Skywalker saga.
"What I wish is that they had been more accepting of his guidance and advice. Because he had an outline for [Episodes] VII, VIII and X. And it is vastly different to what they have done."
Of course, this doesn't mean that Hamill isn't happy with the sequel trilogy installments, admitting that Lucasfilm's new Star Wars movies "are more popular than ever."
"But then again, I don't want to be an old stick in the mud.There were the originals. There are the prequels. But that's all George. And now we have the next generation. And as far as I can see they are more popular than ever."
Hamill isn't just really into the dark turns that Disney's taken the Star Wars franchise, expressing a bit of shock and disappointment at how jaded Luke has become in the sequel trilogy installment. That doesn't mean he isn't happy with what The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has done for the franchise.
