Mark Hamill Wants To Play Luke Skywalker’s Evil Twin

If Mark Hamill had his way, the Star Wars franchise would probably have an evil twin version of Luke Skywalker running around the galaxy far, far away with a red saber and dark Sith robes.

Though the sequel trilogy comes close to Hamill's request with a jaded version of the Jedi master, the Star Wars legend really wants the hero to turn to the Dark Side, admitting in an interview with Empire how he'd love to play Luke's evil twin.

"Oh baby, would I love to play my own evil twin! It'd be great because you could maybe not reveal its Evil Luke until the real Luke shows up. We could watch this guy undermining the good guys secretly – maybe even killing a supporting character out of everyone's sight, so they all go, ‘What's going on? He's crazy!' And then, of course, the good Luke shows up."

It's a pretty kooky idea that might not fit into the franchise now that the sequel trilogy's building up its second installment, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, however a 1993 Star Wars novel by Timothy Zahn did offer up the idea of cloning the Jedi with Luke and his clone Luuke fighting an epic battle.

That won't be happening now, but it's still a pretty fun idea to explore.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres December 15, 2017.
