Mark Hamill Talks About Luke Holding A Lightsaber Again In Star Wars: The Last Jedi

It's been a while since Star Wars fans have seen Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker hold a lightsaber on the big screen, and while the Jedi was offered his lightsaber during the final scene of The Force Awakens, audiences never got to see Luke take the saber with his own hands.

Now that the franchise is moving on with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Luke may continue to show the same reluctance towards using his old lightsaber, however it looks like the Jedi might not have much of a choice in The Force Awakens sequel. Speaking with Fandango during the D23 expo last week, Hamill revealed that though his view on the lightsaber may have changed, he may have to take the weapon again.

"You've heard, you know, [Luke] says ‘it's time for the Jedi to end. I'm sure his view of the lightsaber, the weapon of choice, must have changed as well."

When asked how it feels like to hold a saber in his hands, Hamill gives out a quick "it's frightening" as a response. Though the Star Wars legend backtracks by questioning whether he really does pick a lightsaber again, it's very likely that Luke will really get to fight with a lightsaber again. If rumors that the Knights of Ren will hunt the Jedi down in Ahch-To, then Luke won't have any other option but to use his saber again.

Let's wait for the big fight when Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas on December 15, 2017.
