Mark Hamill might initially have had problems with Luke's character in Star Wars: The Last Jedi but it looks like the Star Wars legend has since changed his mind.
Not only does the actor call The Force Awakens sequel one of the most complex Star Wars films since Empire Strikes Back, he also says that it's more enjoyable playing Luke in the sequel trilogy than in the first set of Star Wars movies.
"I had a beginning, a middle and an end with this thing, I didn't think that even if they went on and did new films that they'd ask us to come back," Hamill said in an interview with host RTE, talking about the original trilogy. "It's so much more enjoyable now because you have a little perspective. When you're in your twenties, it was my first film, I was like 'they're all going to be like this!'"
Spending years away from Luke must give the sequel trilogy more weight to Hamill than it does to the Star Wars legend in the original trilogy, so it makes sense that it feels so much more exciting returning to the franchise as Luke right now.
Hamill might not appear as a full-bodied character in Star Wars: Episode IX, there are many ways to bring back Luke who had previously sacrificed his life to save the Resistance in The Last Jedi.
The Last Jedi is currently available on Digital HD and will be made available on Blu-Ray and DVD on Mrch 27. Episode IX premieres December 20, 2017.
