Mark Hamill might have been busy taking Star Wars fans for a ride by teasing them about Luke Skywalker's departure from the Light Side in The Last Jedi but the Star Wars legend promises everyone that the jaded Jedi won't be turning to the Dark Side anytime soon.

Sure Lucasfilm might have been marketing The Force Awakens movie as a darker installment in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, but speaking with Disney Insider, Hamill explains that Luke's principles haven't really changed, but his outlook on life that had been shaped by his life experiences.

"In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Luke has lost confidence in his ability to make good choices. It haunts him to the core. But he hasn't gone to the dark side. This isn't an evil version of him. But it's still an incarnation of the character I never expected. It has pulled me out of my comfort zone. It's a real challenge."

This definitely straightens things out for the fanbase. Speculation that Luke might turn to the Dark Side started running wild after Lucasfilm rolled out a poster of the Jedi looming behind everyone else in The Last Jedi's poster last month and the theories only got worse after Lucasfilm's IMAX stand showed Luke posing in both the sides of the Resistance and the First Order. Guess this little interview with Hamill puts the whole affair to a rest.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas December 15, 2017.
