Mark Hamill Says His Lack of Star Wars Knowlege Makes Him A Fraud

Even though Mark Hamill played one of the most iconic characters in Star Wars history, there are still fans out there who know better about the entire saga than him, and the Luke Skywalker actor admitted this, jokingly calling himself a "fraud" because of his lack of knowledge about the franchise.

Speaking to Men's Journal (via Comicbook), Hamill confessed: "People have studied these things, read the novels and comic books, played the games. They ask me questions like, 'What's the Wookiee home planet?' In many ways, devotees understand what a Jedi is more than I do. When I play the Star Wars video games, my sons laugh because I crash the vehicle just taking it out of the hangar."

Hamill doesn't mind sharing how his sons tease him about his ignorance.

"My son says, 'If you keep your mouth shut, people might believe you actually know what a Jedi is, rather than opening your mouth and destroying anyone's hope,'" Hamill said. "I'm such a fraud."

That's probably why he exiled himself in the new Star Wars trilogy. Of course, he's not a fraud! I bet he knows more about the saga than most Star Wars actors.

Mark Hamill reprises his role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which hits theaters December 15, 2017.
