Mark Hamill Has No Interest Returning To Star Wars

Mark Hamill was very vocal about his concerns for Luke Skywalker during promotion for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. While he has since apologized for spreading doubt, even praising Rian Johnson and calling The Last Jedi complex, Hamill remains vocal about his Star Wars future. Recently, the actor revealed that he has no interest in returning but not due to the reasons you might be thinking.

Speaking with ABC News, Hamill did not retract the positive things he said about Rian Johnson but pointed out that the death of Carrie Fisher, along with the onscreen deaths of Luke and Han, has made it pointless for him to return.

"It really has tarnished my ability to enjoy it to its fullest. You were asking earlier, ‘Are you going to come back?' I don't care anymore on that level because Han Solo is gone, Luke is gone. And you just can't get the band back together the way you wanted it to be."

When he points it out like this, it's easy to see why he doesn't have much interest to return. It is sad seeing most of the classic characters gone and Carrie Fisher's death is just tragic. Hamill had also previously expressed concern in Star Wars oversaturating itself, especially with Solo: A Star Wars Story coming out next month.

Star Wars: Episode IX comes out on December 20, 2019.
