Mark Hamill Can’t Believe That Luke Is Gone Either

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might have had enjoyed commercial and critical success during its theatrical run, however, the film has also become one of the most divisive installments in the Star Wars franchise. While there are those who enjoyed the film's boldness, some fans didn't really appreciate the risks The Last Jedi took. One of their main sources of outrage is how the film turned Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) into a jaded hermit in Ahch-To and later on killed Luke off after the Jedi Master projected his likeness on Crait to save Leah (Carrie Fisher) and the Resistance.

Though the film provided a touching end for Luke as the Jedi Master came to terms with his guilt by facing his nephew, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), fans hated that Luke had to die in The Last Jedi.

Speaking in a pre-Oscars interview with BBC, Hamill seems to express the same sentiment, saying that he hasn't really said goodbye to the Jedi Master just yet. 27

"I refuse to believe that he's gone," Hamill said. "My theory is he just teleported to somewhere else and left his robe behind."

Though Luke's final moments seemed pretty dramatic fading into the Force in the face of a twin sunset on Ahch-To, we understand why Hamill wouldn't want to let go of Luke just yet.

How about you? Are you ready to let go of Luke?
