Magic: The Gathering's Emrakul Appears in Duel Masters Anime Series

A new teaser has been released for an upcoming episode of the Japanese card game anime series Duel Masters, and it features Magic: The Gathering's Emrakul, the "Aeons Torn".

Episode 40 of Duel Masters is titled Kyoretsu Stimulating Cap! Final Tower Summit Battle!, and it will be released on February 7 in Tokyo TV in Japan. As you can see in the teaser below, the most fearsome Eldrazi titan, Emrakul appears floating in the sky, and attacking with her tentacles.

Just in case you didn't catch Emrakul in the teaser, here's a screen cap:

Given Wizards of the Coast's involvement in Duel Masters, it's not surprising to see Emrakul featured in the Japanese anime series. Emrakul has actually been featured in a Dual Masters card before:

It's amusing to see a 3D CG Emrakul in Duel Masters, and it looks like she's also a villain in the Japanese anime series. The canon reason for Emrakul's appearance is that she is an interdimensional being that can cross-over into the Duel Masters universe.

There are two Emrakul Magic: The Gathering cards:

Duel Masters was co-created by Takara Tomy and Wizards of the Coast. Magic head designer Mark Rosewater previously said on his podcast that Duel Masters was created because cards games are popular in Japan among 10-12-year-old boys, so they decided to make a simplified version of Magic for that market.
