Magic: The Gathering's Battlebond Packaging Images Reveal Interesting Partners

Battlebond, the first set in Magic: The Gathering'shistory designed specifically for Two-Headed Giant, is coming, and today, Wizards of the Coast revealed the packaging for it and they feature interesting looking partners on the artworks.

Check them out:

Back in February, Battlebond lead designer Gavin Verhey shared the details of the upcoming Magic "draft innovation" set on Wizards of the Coast's official website. Like Conspiracy and Conspiracy: Take the Crown, the set is designed for the limited format, but unlike them, it's more focused on Two-Headed Giant gameplay just like what they tried to do with Oath of the Gatewatch.

The set will feature 254 cards, with a mix of reprints and new cards. Out of those 254 cards, 85 will be brand new, so that means that they will be legal in Vintage, Legacy, and Commander as soon as the set is released.

Although Verhey hasn't revealed any cards from Battlebond, he went on to say that they designed cards for other formats like Commander, Cube, and Legacy.

Battlebond will explore a new-before-seen plane in the Multiverse called Kylem. "On this world, beings flock from all over the plane to the arena of Valor's Reach, where two-on-two combat is the pinnacle of the sport," Verhey detailed. "The goal of the combatants isn't to kill their opponents outright, but to defeat them with style and flair."

Synopsis:

Welcome to Battlebond, where competitors battle in pairs. Recruit a trusted partner and fight shoulder-to-shoulder, hand-in-hand, or back-to-back for glory and the roar of the crowd! Forge an unbreakable bond with your combat companion and claim your place in the pantheon of champions

Battlebond will be released on June 8, 2018, the same release date as the new Commander Anthology products.
