Magic: The Gathering Player Arrested After Fighting Over Rules

On Tuesday morning, A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery after fighting with his brother in a dispute over rules to Magic: The Gathering card game they were playing, CarsonNow reports.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies were dispatched at 12:55 a.m. to the 700 block of Hot Springs Road on the report of a domestic battery, according to the arrest report.

The deputies met with the victim outside the apartment, and he said that he and his brother were playing the trading card game "Magic" and got into a fight regarding the game's rules.

The victim's brother said that his 31-year-old brother punched him in the back of his head while they were arguing, which triggered them to fight.

The deputy did not see any physical injuries on the victim, who stated that while he was waiting for the deputies to arrive, he grabbed a sword for his protection. At the dispatch's request, the victim said tht he left the sword inside the apartment upon exiting.

When police talked to the suspect in the apartment, he said that he and his brother got into an argument regarding the rules of the game.

According to the suspect, he was trying to leave the kitchen where they were playing "Magic" and when he did, his brother pushed him.

The suspect brother claimed that after he was pushed, he punched him in the back of the head. He said that once he punched his brother, they started fighting.

A witness, who was also playing Magic, told deputies that the brothers started arguing over the rules of the game and said that he saw the suspect brother punch his brother in the back of the head.

The 31-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. His bail is set at $3,137.
