Iconic Magic: The Gathering Plane is Officially Part of the Dungeons & Dragons Universe

Wizards of the Coast has officially connected an iconic Magic: The Gathering plane into the Dungeons & Dragons universe. Last week, WotC released the second part of a mini-D&D adventure to promote the new crossover Magic: The Gathering set, Adventures in the Forgotten Realms.

Set in D&D's the Forgotten Realms, the new chapter is titled The Hidden Page, and it reveals that the adventure's villain comes from the Magic: The Gathering plane of Ravnica. The adventure reveals that Tyreus has traversed to the Forgotten Realms from Ravnica to search for artifacts left behind by his grandmother Sylvene, who was also a Ravnican who planeswalked to the Forgotten Realms and met her future husband there.

This is the first time that a character from a Magic: The Gathering plane has been featured in an official D&D adventure set in a D&D universe. This could also mean that the Forgotten Realms is one of the planes of the Magic multiverse since any planeswalker is able to travel to the D&D world. However, this seems to contradict what MTG head designer Mark Rosewater said about how Forgotten Realms is separate from the rest of the Magic multiverse.

Bringing a character from the world of Magic is not surprising given that Wizards published a full D&D campaign setting book for Ravnica in 2018, called Dungeons & Dragons Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica, which is available on Amazon.

Dungeons & Dragons Guildmasters Guide to Ravnica - $22.99

Adventures in the Forgotten Realms is set to release for tabletop worldwide on July 23, 2021 It's now available on Magic: The Gathering Arena and Magic Online. The Adventures in the Forgotten Realms products are now available for preorder.
