We just got news recently that all the sequels of Mad Max: Fury Road are on hold since George Miller is in a legal battle against Sony, but Charlize Theron, who played Imperator Furiosa, is hopeful that she gets to work on a spinoff starring her character.
Talking to ScreenRant, Theron said:
"I hope so. I love that character I loved working with George Miller and if he was ever on board, yeah. I mean, I would be in right from the beginning. With him (George Miller) it's kind of like working with Jason Reitman. I wouldn't even need to see a script, I trust him that much and it's great when you have that with a filmmaker."
Though the film was titled Mad Max, Theron's Furiosa got most of the praise from the critics, what with her being the liberating badass that she was. In fact, Tom Hardy barely got any notice for replacing Mel Gibson in the franchise. Then again, Max is more of a ‘leaf in the wind' type character.
Besides Furiosa, Theron has also confirmed that a sequel to last year's Atomic Blonde is also in the works. We don't know when the movie is going to come out, but it could be a while since director David Leitch is currently attached to direct a Fast and Furious spinoff starring the Rock and Jason Statham.
A Furiosa spinoff has not been announced.
