Lupita Nyong'o could land another extra-terrestrial role.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar winner is in talks to star in Intelligent Life, a sci-fi thriller love story crossover from Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin Partners.
There's hasn't been any news of a director attached to the project, but initial reports claim Ava DuVernay is being eyed by production. So far, what's confirmed is that the script for Intelligent Life's script has been penned by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, with Derek Connolly standing as co-writer.
Intelligent Life is reportedly a revamped version of another Trevorrow-Connolly project called The Ambassador. It follows the story of a U.N. special department worker who develops human ambassadors in the event of alien contact. The male worker eventually falls for a mysterious woman who he'll find out is an alien.
If Nyong'o decides to take on the project, she could play the female alien.
Right now, DuVernay is also being offered to direct a Disney adaptation of Madelein L'Engle's classic book, A Wrinkle in Time. If she accepts the offer, she could still helm Intelligent Life since there are no conflicts between the two projects.
There's high potential for Intelligent Life to become a sci-fi blockbuster, especially if Nyong'o and DuVernay decides to get involved.
With an Academy-award from 12 Years A Slave and her convincing and unique take on the eccentric Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Nyong'o's possible character in Intelligent Life could be another award contender.
