Rogue One: A Star Wars Story genuinely took everyone by surprise, delivering an emotional tale that also showed why the Death Star had such a glaring weakness. Set before the events of the first movie, characters like Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa never knew how heavy the cost was at getting this information. It looks like they will soon, as the current writer of Marvel's Star Wars comics has stated that he will pen their reaction.

Kieron Gillen will be the new writer of the Star Wars ongoing series, but is no stranger to the beloved property. Prior to getting this job, he was writing the adventures of Darth Vader that were set after A New Hope with artist Salvador Larroca, who draws the current batch of Star Wars comics. Gillen also introduced Doctor Aphra in the Darth Vader series, a new character who gained so much popularity she was given an ongoing series after Vader ended.

Gillen confirmed that the Luke, Leia and others will find out about the events of Rogue One during an interview with CBR. Here is what he had to say about the storyline:

"We're kind of starting with a smaller story explicitly integrating with and exposing the New Hope characters to everything that happened in Rogue One."

"Through that we get people like Luke discovering everything that allowed him to get into a position to destroy the Death Star. He finds out about Jyn Erso and all the people who sacrificed their lives to give him the chance to be a hero. As you can imagine, that's going to hit Luke hard."

Star Wars #38 will be the start of Kieron Gillen's run with artist Salvador Larocca. The comic will hit stores this November. A comic book adaptation for Rogue One was also made by Marvel and is currently available in a graphic novel format.
