Luke In The Dark Side Again In New Collectibles For Star Wars: The Last Jedi

There was a lot of commotion after Lucasfilm released new promotional material showing Luke (Mark Hamill) in the background of both posters meant for the First Order and The Resistance last month, sparking a lot of speculation that the Jedi might turn to the Dark Side somewhere along Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Despite the fact that Hamill's already refuted all these Dark-Side rumors (not after trolling the fanbase for a few weeks by feeding Dark Side theorists with comparisons to older Star Wars posters where villains generally loomed behind the heroes of the franchise), it seems like Lucasfilm is still rolling out seemingly contentious merchandise, one that could rekindle the whole conversation about Luke turning towards the Dark Side.

According to Comicbook, the Alamo Drafthouse theather chain is selling a couple of collectible pint glasses, and while the first couple of glasses show Luke along with the heroes of the Resistance fighting alongside each other, the second shows him looming overhead along with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the First Order.

While the First Order set could be interpreted as a confirmation that Luke turns towards the Dark Side in The Last Jedi, fans could also read the collectible as a depiction of Luke's multi-faceted personality. There has been a lot of theories that Lucasfilm might be exploring the Grey Side of the Force in The Last Jedi – and if proven true, then it would make sense that Luke would be marketed in both camps. Let's just wait and see.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas December 15, 2017.
