Lucasfilm President Says Star Wars: The Last Jedi “Doesn’t Answer All The Questions”

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might be one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, but it seems like the sequel trilogy installment won't be able to provide answers to all the pressing questions that have been running around everyone's heads after the end of The Force Awakens.

Last week The Star Wars Show sat down with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and this week the Star Wars YouTube channel posted an extended version of their interview with the studio executive, highlighting a bit of the conversation where The Last Jedi was the focal point of the discussion.

When asked by host Andi Gutierrez about what had impressed her most about The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson's script, Kennedy opened up about what the film had in store for fans, telling them front and center that the film doesn't have the answers to all of the fanbase's questions after The Force Awakens.

"I think he's done an exceptional job of taking these new characters and some of the legacy characters and moving us to this next place. He doesn't answer all the questions, I will say that up front. But there are certain questions he does answer in a really wonderfully provocative way, and I think there'll be some surprises that people aren't expecting."

Though Kennedy doesn't specify which secrets come with an answer in The Last Jedi, it's exciting to hear that Johnson's made it so that the movie doesn't give everything away all at once. Fans have to remember that Lucasfilm still has to think about Star Wars: Episode IX, and where would the fun be if the studio just gave everything away in Episode VIII?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas December 15, 2017.
