Lucasfilm Announces New Live-Action Star Wars Series To Be Written And Produced By Jon Favreau

It looks like Star Wars fans are getting a new live-action Star Wars series from Iron Man director, Jon Favreau.

Lucasfilm has just announced that Favreau has just signed on to executive produce and write a live-action Star Wars series for Disney's upcoming streaming service which is expected to launch sometime in late 2019.

"I couldn't be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform," says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in a statement put up on Star Wars' official website. "Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base."

Favreau has been no stranger to Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away. Not only has the filmmaker taken an alien role in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, but he's also played a role in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. The director also seems to be thrilled to return to Star Wars, telling Lucasfilm that he's excited about the project.

"If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn't have believed you. I can't wait to embark upon this exciting adventure," Favreau gushes.

A new Star Wars project is always exciting news, and we definitely can't wait to learn more about this upcoming live-action series. Right now we don't have any information on what the series might be about, or when exactly it might premiere, but we'll update you as soon as we get word.
