Patrick Stewart may play the role of one of most powerful and knowledgeable psychic mutants in 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise, however it seems like the actor used to know little about circumcision for a good part of his life.
Speaking in The Graham Norton Show (via E Online) the 76 year old Logan star revealed that for quite hadn't realized that he wasn't circumcised for a good part of his life. According to the star, he had only realized that he was left uncircumcised when his wife told him.
"One night with my wife [Sunny Ozell], as you do, we were talking about stuff and I mentioned my circumcision and she said, 'You're not circumcised'," he recalled. "I said, 'What do you mean? That's ridiculous, I should know. All my life my mother has told me it was fashionable at the time'."
The kooky Star Trek star didn't believe a word his wife said, howeer the timing was just right because the day after he had an appointment with his doctor.
"I happened to be seeing my doctor the next day for a check-up so while he was down there I said, 'By the way, my wife and I have had a little disagreement, I am circumcised, aren't I?'" Stewart continued. "He took a closer look and said, 'Not! I am Jewish, and definitely know the difference!'"
Stewart appeared in the talk show along with X-Men co-stars Sir Ian McKellan and Hugh Jackman, along with singer James Blunt and everyone had a good laugh at his story. However, the Star Trek alum realizes later on that he had actually spilled the beans about his uncircumcised self on a show that his grandchildren would be watching. Oh well, that's okay Patrick Stewart. The internet still loves you for your kookiness and for all the memes.
Stewart and Jackman are starring in 20th Century Fox's Logan which hits cinemas on March 3.
