Logan may have been dominating the box-office since it was released, but it looks like Kong: Skull Island has beaten it when it comes to opening weekend. Seems like Adamantium claws are no match for gigantic monster monkeys.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kong: Skull Island has opened with a whopping $20.2 million as compared to Logan which grossed $88.3 million domestically. Granted that Logan has been getting some stellar reviews and has been in the box office for a while, it's still unsure which movie will eventually come out on top when it comes to total box office gross.
The same thing happened back in 2014 with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Guardians of the Galaxy was doing fine till TMNT beat their numbers when it got released — then GOTG just kept on going and eventually surpassed the gross of Turtles. The very same thing could happen with Logan and Kong, but only time will tell which film really comes out on top.
You think Hugh Jackman's last stint as Wolverine is no better than a reboot of a classic cinematic movie monster? Logan and Kong: Skull Island are currently playing in theaters.
