List of the Highest-Paid Actresses in 2016 Shows Sci-fi Brings Big Bucks

Actresses who've recently worked in fantasy and science fiction are among the highest paid in the industry, Forbes reports. The highest paid actress this year was Jennifer Lawrence, who has prominent roles in both the Hunger Games and X-Men Franchises. This is the second year in a row she's had the top spot.

Jennifer Lawrence has earned $46 million thanks to her roles. This is $13 million more than the second-highest ranked, Melissa McCarthy. McCarthy is best known for her comedies, but she recently got to combine her comedic chops with a big sci-fi franchise when she starred in the Ghostbusters reboot. This was likely responsible to the fact she earner $10 million more than what she did last year.

Scarlett Johannson took the bronze medal, as she earned $25 million. Once again, sci-fi roles can be credited to her big payday. She's getting 17.5 million for her role on Ghost in the Shell and is recieving a lot of cash for her appeances in Marvel movies as Black Widow.

Other sci-fi actresses who made the top ten are Fan BingBing (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road), Amy Adams (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and Mila Kunis (Jupiter Ascending). It's pretty clear that sci-fi pays well.
