Farmingdale State College on Long Island, New York, went on lockdown Wednesday morning when someone called 911 after seeing a man in a car assembling a "rifle."
Apparently though, when police arrived, they found out that the weapon was not of this world.
According to the Associated Press, a Farmingdale spokeswoman confirmed the "weapon" to be a Star Wars toy.
The college also took to its Twitter account to say that the situation had been "resolved without incident:"
Suffolk County Police also confirmed to Newsday that the toy was a lightsaber.
It remains unclear who made the 911 call, but police later found out that the man assembling the lightsaber was a student of the college. No charges were filed against the student.
The college and the campus police did not immediately reply to requests for comment.
The news might sound ridiculous now, but it really isn't funny until it is. If you think this is the first time that such an incident has happened, it isn't.
Apparently, Star Wars caused a scare last year when a man wearing a Stormtrooper costume was seen outside a school, holding a laser gun. The man was arrested.
"The way things are today, you can't have that," police told the Salem News.
It can't be helped to be extra cautious especially in this time and age where almost everyone can easily purchase firearms. It still begs the question though, what was the Farmingdale State College student planning to do with the lightsaber after assembling it?
