‘Legends of the Hidden Temple’ and ‘Hey Arnold!’ To Become TV Movies

Nickelodeon is bringing back its ‘90s hit TV shows Legends of the Hidden Temple and Hey Arnold. However, this time, the cable network is making TV movies out of them.

The network is most likely inspired by the current trend of reviving shows from the ‘90s such as Power Rangers.

According to Variety, Nickelodeon is now developing a live-action adaptation of hit game show, Legends of the Hidden Temple, which aired from 1993-1995.

The report says that Hidden Temple will follow three siblings on a mission to "conquer a series of obstacles to remain alive," akin to the game show. It will also feature several familiar characters such as the talking head, Olmec; the Steps of Knowledge, which is the entrance to the temple; and other such cameos from a red jaguar, silver snakes, and a green monkey.

The film is set to star Isabela Moner, who plays CJ Martin on Nick's 100 Things to Do Before High School.

The Hidden Temple TV movie will be released by the fourth quarter of 2016.

As for the Hey Arnold! TV movie, or movies for this matter, Nickelodeon is creating a two-part TV movie to further quench the thirst of ‘90s kids for nostalgia. It still remains to be known whether the animated series' original creators or the original voice cast will be involved in any way.

The Hey Arnold! TV movies are slated to appear in 2017.

I have to admit that Legends of the Hidden Temple and Hey Arnold! movies both sound like exciting prospects. I'm more fond of Hey Arnold! though and I'd consider my childhood more interesting because of it. The series is actually really good that I watched football headed character's misadventures well into early adulthood.

Certainly, Nickelodeon wouldn't invest its time and money on these TV movies without making sure there's a sure audience. The big question however, is how willing are adult fans in spending time and effort to actually watch the films?

A Hey Arnold! The Movie had already been released in 2002 and that didn't pan out too well on critics. I'm hoping they have pretty good revival stories in mind for these films.
