This is crazy. With the beginning of the year barely giving us any information on Solo, Lucasfilm has made up for it by releasing clip after clip of the film after the marketing officially started. Now we have a new TV Spot titled ‘Risk' and it gives us a lot more of Donald Glover's smooth-talking Lando Calrissian.
Though the trailer also gives us some more ominous warnings from Han Solo's mentor Beckett (Woody Harrelson), I can't help but feel that the spot gave us a better look at Lando. First we have him talking to Qi'Ra referring to Han and Chewie as ‘Hairy and the boy', then we have L3 asking him if he was done flirting. The coolest shot of Lando in the trailer is most definitely the one where he tosses a blaster to Han and continues with the firefight.
Though reactions have been mixed for Alden Ehrenreich's casting of Han Solo, nothing but praise has been made for having Donald Glover cast as a young Lando Calrissian. I don't get it, Glover doesn't even look or sound like Billy Dee Williams, but the reactions to him being cast haven't been so violent. I guess it's because Glover is the perfect amount of ‘smooth' to play someone like Lando.
Catch Solo: A Star Wars Story in theaters May 25.
