Konami Bans Metal Gear Solid Creator From Game Awards

Metal Gear Solid creator hideo Kojima was allegedly restricted from attending this year's Game Awards. He was held back from the award ceremony by Konami, Kojima's employer and developer of the Metal Gear Solid games. Since earlier this year, Kojima has had a rough relationship with Konami, when rumors began to surface that the brilliant designer was leaving the company after the release of Metal Gear Solid V. Konami denied the reports in October, instead stating that Kojima was still working for the company.

Game Awards host Geoff Keighley brought the news during the show, before announcing that Metal Gear Solid V had won the "Best Action Game" award. The award was accepted on Kojima's behalf by Keifer Sutherland, the voice of Snake in th latest Metal Gear Solid game.

Kojima is best known for creating the Metal Gear Solid franchise, but he's also been involved with other popular video game franchises like Snatcher and Zone of the Enders. He also produced Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

Neither Kojima nor Konami has officially responded to the alleged restriction, but Kojima's Twitter account did retweet a tween about the outrage against Konami banning him from attending the awards show.
