Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam has actually been fan-casted as Green Arrow for the DC Cinematic Universe, but it looks like the Welsh actor isn't interested in the role at all — he's not interested in superhero movies in general.
In an interview with Yahoo Movies, Hunnam admitted:
"I didn't grow up a comic book fan and I haven't really seen any of those Marvel films or the Batman films… It's just not really my taste. I must confess I don't really know who the Green Arrow is. It's not part of my vision for my career or what I aspire to."
Just because Hunnam isn't interested in superhero movies doesn't really mean he isn't into working in huge blockbusters. Hunnam has worked on Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim, and he's also playing the lead in Guy Ritchie's King Arthur movie. It's really odd how he would go for those projects, but not for anything for Marvel or DC because they basically fall in the same category. Perhaps he doesn't like the commitment of signing on for multiple movies? Who knows?
I'm personally fine if Hunnam doesn't get cast as Green Arrow in the DC Cinematic Universe. Honestly, I would like the production to cast someone older like they did with Ben Affleck as Batman. I always felt like Green Arrow had a kinship with Batman since both of them are just regular (and wealthy) men who have the same status as the big heroes despite not having any powers. It would be nice to see an old grizzled arrow joining ranks with the League.
No news on Green Arrow has been popping for the DCCU, but fans can expect a new Justice League trailer to come out this Saturday.
