Kevin Smith Podcast Reveals Solo: A Star Wars Story’s Spoiler Cameo

It looks like Star Wars fans might meet another familiar face in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Aside from Han (Alden Ehrenreich), Chewie (Joonas Suotamo) and Lando (Donald Glover), it seems like a very familiar beep-booping droid might be making an appearance in Lucasfilm's next Star Wars spinoff.

Writer Brad Meltzer recently went on Kevin Smith's podcast Smodcast, and during the interview with the pop culture connoisseur and cult director, Meltzer claimed that he and his family were offered the chance to meet R2-D2 when they visited the set of Solo.

"We went in and I took my kids, and that was a big thing for me, is I got to take my kids, and if we reveal anything we gotta, like, give [Disney] one of the kids, but I've got three, so we've got a spare, but we go there and they do the thing, 'You wanna see R2-D2? You wanna see Chewie?'" Meltzer revealed. "Yes, of course we wanna do that."

Could R2-D2 really make a cameo appearance in Solo? The Star Wars franchise is littered with exciting cameos, from brief mentions of Star Wars Rebels' Hera Syndulla in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to disguise celebrity appearances like Daniel Craig's in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. A cameo appearance of everyone's favorite droid doesn't seem like a stretch – though it is also possible that there just might be a lot of iconic props nearby on the set of Solo.

Let's just cross our fingers and wait and see.

Solo: A Star Wars Story premieres May 25.
