Fans might not be quite onboard with the idea of a Quentin Tarantino Star Trek movie, but Leonard McCoy actor Karl Urban thinks that a new installment by the cult director is exactly what the Star Trek franchise needs.

Sitting down to speak with Yahoo!, Urban expressed confidence in Tarantino's R-Rated Star Trek movie, saying that the director brings with him "the exact kind of energy the franchise needs."

Though the Star Trek star admits that he knows "nothing more than you guys do" about what Tarantino has in mind for his upcoming science fiction movie, it looks like Urban's pretty open to the filmmaker's direction.

"It's just important to remain open to whatever the story is, and whatever collaboration may evolve. Whether that's going to mean swearing, more graphic violence or sex, I don't know. It'll be interesting to see."

Change and growth is necessary for the survival of any franchise, and while some fans would want to stick to the rules, a little change wouldn't be bad for Star Trek. Though Star Trek Beyond received stronger reviews, the film didn't do so well at the box office after the disappointment many felt viewing J.J. Abram's Into Darkness. Besides, if Urban has faith in Tarantino, then maybe should we.

Tarantino's Star Trek movie has yet to receive a release date, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
