Justice League’s The Flash Sees Suicide Squad Outcome as Motivation

When your work gets panned massively by critics, you'd probably need some time to get over it and find some sort of silver lining to move on.

Not for Ezra Miller, who takes the role of The Flash in the upcoming Justice League movie. Granted, he wasn't in Suicide Squad—well, not for longer than a line or two. But given that it is part of the DCEU, the rather negative view of DC movies has been bleeding into other upcoming movies. I'm guilty of already doubting whether DC's move will be any good following the now-three relatively lackluster films.

Miller, on the other hand, shares with MTV News that the 26% score on Rotten Tomatoes for Suicide Squad actually served as an inspiration to the current Justice League members.

"You needn't look any further than the Suicide Squad director and cast response to the negative reviews to feel how negative critiques motivate us… As artists, we aim to please absolutely everybody with our work, but we also know that we have to keep expressing ourselves as best as we can express ourselves."

It's an admirable stance though, but since it's coming from one of the characters who I'm putting my hopes on (together with Jason Momoa's Aquaman), maybe the Speedster will be that one silver lining.

After all, his scene in Suicide Squad was one of those few that made me genuinely smile. And made me re-watch the Justice League trailer. And proved me wrong (for now) about my reservations for him playing The Flash.
