Though fans know that Darkseid is the end-all villain in DC's Cinematic Universe, the League will be coming together against Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds) in the upcoming Justice League. Hinds himself has opened up on his role and has commented on what to expect from Steppenwolf in the movie.
Speaking to The Independent, Hinds talks about his character arc and where he stands in Darksied's army. Hinds explains:
"He's old, tired, still trying to get out of his own enslavement to Darkseid, [but] he has to keep on this line to try and take over worlds."
As for the character's appearance, Steppenwolf will be rendered completely in CGI, but the character will be getting some features from Hinds himself.
"Basically they're going to construct something, digitally, and then they will use my eyes and mouth," said Hinds.
It's still unsure on whether the Steppenwolf in Justice League will look similar to his cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (The extended edition), but I'm hoping they bring something new to the table.
Hinds himself is an esteemed actor, and has been in a good number of roles, most recently gaining attention as the "King Beyond the Wall" Mance Rayder in HBO's Game of Thrones. I'm curious on how his Steppenwolf will unfold onscreen. Hopefully it isn't anything like the awkward Lex Luthor that Jesse Eisenberg gave us.
Justice League hits theaters on Nov. 17.
