Julianne Moore Talks About The Difference Between Her Kingsman Villain And Samuel L. Jackson's

The first Kingsman movie had Samuel L. Jackson be the big bad of the film, and with the sequel comes Julianne Moore's Poppy. Talking to ScreenRant, Moore talks about how her villain is different from Jackson's and also how director Matthew Vaughn wanted to bring something new to the table.

When asked about what makes Poppy different from Valentine, Moore explains:

"With this one, Matthew and Jane Goldman wrote something that was so different – something that I hadn't seen, and something that really reminded me of Gene Hackman in Superman. That was one of the things I kept thinking of. He was this eccentric character but he seemed totally normal down there arguing with Valerie Perrine in this underground cave. And I mentioned that to him and he said Yeah!' Matthew's a big fan of Richard Donner, so that's a reference point he liked."

Just watching the first Kingsman, people can get a sense that the film is an homage to the James Bond genre of spy films. With Sam Jackson's character being one of the more colorful aspects of the first movie, it only makes sense that the sequel will try to bring in someone just as eccentric.

Here's the synopsis for the film:

With their headquarters destroyed and the world held hostage, members of Kingsman find new allies when they discover a spy organization in the United States known as Statesman. In an adventure that tests their strength and wits, the elite secret agents from both sides of the pond band together to battle a ruthless enemy and save the day, something that's becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle comes out Sept. 22.
