Last month, news broke out that Rebellion and IM Global Television were working on Judge Dredd: Mega City One, a new live-action television series based on the iconic 2000 AD comic book character.
However, while fans are as excited as ever to have a new Judge Dredd series on the way, a new update from franchise producer Jason Kingsley reveals that though production is going on smoothly, the release of Mega City One is "atleast two years away."
Speaking in an interview with SFX Magazine (via Games Radar), Kingsley gave a few updates regarding the highly anticipated live-action television series.
"Dark fantasy elements are one area that would be great to explore. The show will combine the macabre with the insane and the light-hearted. It's a big place, after all, with 400 million stories to tell."
"Long-form storytelling makes showing Mega-City One and its inhabitants much easier. Trying to fit all of that into a two-hour movie is very hard. My best guess is that it's at least two years away. But we're so early in the process that things could happen a bit faster, or much more slowly."
While a two-year wait may sound unbearable, it sounds like the network is putting a lot of effort into producing a good series for Judge Dredd fans. It's better to wait for a couple of years for a good series than to have Mega City One release earlier and come out a mess.
Judge Dredd: Mega City One has no release date as of yet, but we'll keep everyone updated as soon as we get word.
